Rohrer, June A.
Passed Away:

June Artie Rohrer, nee Souders, born in Gerald, Missouri, June 28, 1917, peacefully departed this world on December 31, 2009 at the age of 92. June was the daughter of Arthur and Dolly Souders, and was preceded in death by her husband Jacob Lawrence Rohrer, and her twin brother Art Souders.
June was married to Lawrence for nearly 60 years, residing mainly at the family farm on Rohrer Rd, west of Bourbon. On that farm, she managed a large garden, raised a family and gave Lawrence much support on the dairy farm, then later worked with him when he was the county assessor. Her involvement in the Methodist Church gave her much joy and a lifetime of friendships. She was a long standing member of the Stringtown Home Economics Club and a weekly volunteer at the Bourbon Christian Thrift store.
June had a passion for music that she shared with her family, playing the piano and inspiring her children and grandchildren to play music as well. She loved animals, enjoying her cats and dogs and riding horses. June also had many talents in the arts; her numerous paintings are treasured and her quilts keep us warm on cold Missouri nights. When the farm work became too much, June and Lawrence moved to a new house on the old Rohrer farm, next to the Bourbon High School. June enjoyed the many pleasures of a quiet country life, nurturing her gardens, her family, and the community she loved. She touched many lives with her warm smile, gentle ways and good home cooking.
She is survived by her 4 children: Janet Kruse and her husband Fred, grandchildren Melissa, Melanie, Edward, and Jacob and 7 great grandchildren; Jay Rohrer and his wife Linda, grandchildren Kathy and Jeff and 3 great grandchildren; Gene Rohrer and his wife, Dee, grandchildren Terri and Jennifer and 5 great grandchildren; Rex Rohrer and his wife, Lorian, and grandchildren Sage and Kai. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews and their children, and sisters-in-law Opal Rohrer, Doris Rohrer, Zelma Hill and Lois Souders. She was loved by many and shall be missed.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, from the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon with Reverend Judy Jeffery officiating.
